Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Oratorical Contest is offered to students of the Greater Hartford area schools. Students are encouraged to create an original speech based on a theme provided by the Foundation. Students are also provided with one-on-one coaching by an assigned mentor from the Foundation’s Speaker Bureau who will help participants strengthen their speeches and hone their speaking skills. Separate awards for middle and high school finalists who will compete. Each group (middle and high school) will have scholarship opportunities ranging from $150.00 – $1000.00 book scholarships.
